# 🧪 List Vehicle Movement Status

GET https://api.catenatelematics.com/v2/intelligence/movement/vehicles

Retrieve movement status for vehicles in your accessible fleets over the trailing 30 days. A vehicle is considered to have moved when it traveled at least 1000 meters in that window. Movement is determined from odometer readings when available, falling back to a GPS-derived spatial extent when odometer data is not reported. At least one of `fleet_ids`, `fleet_refs`, `connection_id`, or `vehicle_ids` must be provided. Use `moved` to filter the result to only vehicles that did or didn't move. Each row carries a `vehicle` object with the vehicle's identifying details.

## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (bearer token, required) — Bearer authentication of the form `Bearer <token>`, where token is your auth token.

## Request

### Query parameters

- `moved` (boolean, optional, nullable) — Filter by movement status. `true` returns only vehicles that traveled at least 1000 meters in the trailing 30 days; `false` returns only vehicles confirmed to have stayed under that threshold. Omit to return every vehicle regardless of status, including those with insufficient data (`moved: null`).
- `fleet_ids` (list of string, optional, nullable) — Limit results to specific fleets using Catena's fleet IDs. *For your own fleet identifiers, use `fleet_refs` instead* To specify multiple values, repeat the parameter for each value (e.g., `?fleet_ids=id1&fleet_ids=id2`).
- `fleet_refs` (list of string, optional, nullable) — Limit results to specific fleets using your organization's fleet reference identifiers. To specify multiple values, repeat the parameter for each value (e.g., `?fleet_refs=ref1&fleet_refs=ref2`).
- `connection_id` (string, optional, nullable) — Limit results to a specific provider connection. This is the UUID assigned by Catena when your fleet connects to a TSP.
- `vehicle_ids` (list of string, optional, nullable) — Limit results to specific vehicles. **Maximum:** 100 IDs To specify multiple values, repeat the parameter for each value (e.g., `?vehicle_ids=id1&vehicle_ids=id2`).
- `cursor` (string, optional, nullable) — Cursor for the next page
- `size` (integer, optional, default: 300) — Page size

## Response

### 200

Successful Response

- `items` (list of VehicleMovementRead, required)

- `previous_page` (string, optional, nullable) — Cursor for the previous page
- `next_page` (string, optional, nullable) — Cursor for the next page

## Types

### VehicleMovementRead

Movement status for a vehicle over the trailing 30-day window.

- `vehicle` (VehicleEmbeddedRead, required) — The vehicle this row describes, including its Catena identifier as `vehicle.id`. Always present — a movement row only exists for a vehicle record the caller can read.
- `fleet_id` (string, required, nullable) — Catena fleet identifier.
- `fleet_ref` (string, required, nullable) — Your assigned reference ID for this vehicle's fleet.
- `moved` (boolean, optional, nullable) — Whether the vehicle traveled at least 1000 meters in the trailing 30 days. Null when neither odometer nor GPS data is available in the window.
- `distance_traveled_meters` (integer, optional, nullable) — Distance traveled in meters over the trailing 30 days. Null iff `moved` is null. Approximate (spatial extent, not measured mileage) when `method` is `gps_envelope`.
- `method` (enum, optional, nullable) — Signal used to determine movement: `odometer` (exact boundary delta) or `gps_envelope` (bounding-box approximation, used when odometer data is unavailable). Null iff `moved` is null.
  - Allowed values: `odometer`, `gps_envelope`

### ValidationErrorDetail

- `path` (string, required)
- `input` (string, required)
- `message` (string, required)
- `error_type` (string, required)

### RetryAfterDetail

- `retry_after_seconds` (integer, required)
- `message` (string, required)

### VehicleEmbeddedRead

Lightweight vehicle snapshot embedded in other API responses.

- `id` (string, required) — Unique identifier of the record at Catena Telematics.
- `vehicle_name` (string, optional, nullable) — Display name or unit number for the vehicle.
- `oem` (string, optional, nullable) — Manufacturer (OEM) of the vehicle.
- `model_type` (string, optional, nullable) — Manufacturer model or type designation (e.g., 'Class 8 Tractor', 'Pickup').
- `model_year` (integer, optional, nullable) — Model year (four-digit, e.g., 2022).
- `vin` (string, optional, nullable) — Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), typically 17 characters; if available.
- `license_plate_region` (string, optional, nullable) — Plate region/subdivision (state/province code, e.g., 'CA', 'ON').
- `license_plate_country` (string, optional, nullable) — Plate country code (ISO-3166-1 alpha-3, e.g., 'USA', 'CAN').
- `license_plate_number` (string, optional, nullable) — License plate number (e.g., 'HMT-3570').
- `is_active` (boolean, optional, nullable) — Indicates whether the vehicle is currently active/in service.
- `status` (string, optional, nullable) — Operational status label (e.g., 'IN_SERVICE', 'OUT_OF_SERVICE', 'MAINTENANCE').
- `eld_id` (string, optional, nullable) — Telematics/ELD device identifier associated with this vehicle, if any.
- `eld_serial_number` (string, optional, nullable) — Telematics/ELD device serial number, if any.
- `source_id` (string, optional, nullable) — Unique identifier of the record in the TSP.
- `external_id` (string, optional, nullable) — External vehicle identifier as known in the TSP or customer's system.
